Smiling Teen Girl in a wheelchair Oak Hill provides services and solutions to thousands of children, which includes teens with disabilities (intellectual, developmental, physical disabilities, including visual impairments) each year. Our seven distinct programs provide in home and community-based housing; community-based education; assistive technology; healthy relationships; arts and recreation.

Summer Camp for Teen Girls with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Oak Hill has partnered with Camp Dragonfly, a one week residential summer camp for girls (ages 13-17 years) with autism spectrum disorder; located at Oak Hill Camp in Waterford, CT.  For more information, please contact Linda Chamrad at lchamrad@snet.net  
 

Positive Choices Program is Here

CRSE Positive Choices curriculum

"Positive Choices" a program on healthy relationships, sexuality, and safe boundaries for secondary students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  This innovative curriculum was developed thanks to generous funding from Hartford Foundation for Public Giving and the Special Hope Foundation, Palo Alto, California.

Low Vision Education and Employment Program for Teens

Zuileka and other LEEP participants visit NYC

Oak Hill offers LEEP (Low vision/blind Education Employment Program) for students (ages 15 to 23 years) who are blind or have low vision.  Oak Hill is grateful to its donors for funding this valuable program. 

Program objectives:

  • to increase knowledge via the use of assistive technology
  • enhance daily living skills
  • gain exposure to college life
  • participate in recreational activities
  • learn job interviewing techniques
  • increase self advocacy skills

Oak Hill staff are certified in the following areas:

  • Medication Administration
  • Human Rights and the Prevention of Abuse
  • Infection Control
  • Signs and Symptoms of Illness
